Percy Jackson Reading Order

If you're reading Percy Jackson books for the first time, this is the reading order I suggest. It's mostly publishing order, but also basically chronological order. The Senior Year Adventures books are the only ones that were published out of chronological order, besides short story collections. This is also a great reading order for a re-read!

Percy Jackson and the Olympians (Original Series)

  1. The Lightning Thief (2005)
  2. The Sea of Monsters (2006)
  3. The Titan's Curse (2007)
  4. The Battle of the Labyrinth (2008)
    1. Book 4.5 - The Demigod Files (short stories)
  5. The Last Olympian (2009)

Heroes of Olympus

  1. The Lost Hero (2010)
  2. The Son of Neptune (2011)
    1. Book 2.5 - The Demigod Diaries (short stories)
  3. The Mark of Athena (2012)
  4. The House of Hades (2013)
    1. Book 4.5 - Percy Jackson's Greek Gods (2014)
  5. The Blood of Olympus (2014)
    1. Book 5.5 - Percy Jackson's Greek Heroes (2015)

Percy Jackson and the Olympians (The Senior Year Adventures)

  1. The Chalice of the Gods (2023)📚
  2. The Wrath of the Triple Goddess (2024)
  3. Expected Third Senior Year Adventure (unreleased)

Trials of Apollo

  1. The Hidden Oracle (2016)
  2. The Dark Prophecy (2017)
    2.5 Camp Half-Blood Confidential (2017)
  3. The Burning Maze (2018)
  4. The Tyrant's Tomb (2019)
    4.5 Camp Jupiter Classified: A Probatio's Journal (2020)
  5. The Tower of Nero (2020)

Nico di Angelo Adventures

  1. The Sun and The Star (2023)
  2. Announced Nico di Angelo sequel (unreleased)

📚 Yes, if you're reading Percy Jackson books for the first time, I suggest reading Chalice of the Gods and Wrath of the Triple Goddess after Heroes of Olympus, before reading Trials of Apollo. The Senior Year Adventure books go chronologically between Heroes of Olympus and Trials of Apollo. This is contrary to my usual advice of reading books in publishing order. The reason for the exception is that they're not really prequels to Trials of Apollo. The Senior Year Adventures directly continue Percy's story, whereas Trials of Apollo is more of a spin off.

Magnus Chase is a separate series, but Annabeth and Percy cross over and make a couple of cameo appearances. I suggest reading these any time after The Senior Year Adventures. The third Magnus Chase book, The Ship of the Dead, was published after The Dark Prophecy, the second book in the Trials of Apollo series.

Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard Series

  1. The Sword of Summer (2015)
  2. The Hammer of Thor (2016)
  3. The Ship of the Dead (2017)
